Information about REQUIRED Online Alcohol Education for First-Year Students
This MUST be completed by 5pm on March 7, 2008
Welcome to Texas State University!
As new students here at our campus, you are about to have a lot of interesting new experiences. This will be an amazing time for you, and to help you get ready for it, one of the new experiences is going to be getting the real deal on alcohol from a site called www.MyStudentBody.com brought to you by the Alcohol & Drug Resource Center, the PAWS Preview Team and the Division of Student Affairs.
All Freshmen starting school this semester will be required to complete the First-Year course on the www.MyStudentBody.com Alcohol site. You can go through the course all at once (approximately an hour to 1 ½ hours) or in mini-visits – whatever works for you. However you choose to do it though, you need to complete the course by 5 p.m. on March 7th or you won’t be able to register for your Fall 2008 classes.
Attached you will find instructions on how to access the site and what to do once you get there. This information will also be available at 512-245-3601 or 512-245-8295 and at

Log-In Instructions
Alcohol Education Requirement
Completion deadline: March 7th, 2008 with a passing 80% or
higher Post-test score
Below is a list of tasks to complete. Going through the entire course should take an hour to an hour and one-half. You can complete the course over several visits.
LOGIN
Go to www.mystudentbody.com. In the middle of the screen there is a box that says “Is this your first time? Click here to register. Click on the word “Go.”
On page labeled “First Time Users,” enter your school code, Bobcat, and create a unique user name and password. Each one can be up to 8 characters. Fill in the rest of the information, confirm you have read the “Terms of Use” and click “Submit.”
IMPORTANT: Write down your username and password for future use. You will need it to access the course and the rest of the site if you log off.
Fill in all the required information on the Registration page and then click “Continue” at the bottom of the page. On the next page, verify the information you entered and click “Finish.”
You will be directed to the myStudentBody.com Lobby. Click on the icon for myStudentBody.com Alcohol.
On the page labeled “First Time Users,” complete the required information to enter the course. Please select “As A Requirement” from the list in Question 1. Click “Continue.”
On the page labeled “Welcome, select the course for new students, FIRST YEAR, and then click “Continue.” When prompted on the next page, please enter your name and your student ID number. Confirm you have read and agree to the privacy statement, and click “Continue.” Please remember that all information you give is confidential – your responses to this program cannot be linked to your name or student ID number. All results are reported as a group not an individual.
Follow the prompts and answer the questions in the sections that follow and click on
“Continue” buttons as they appear. You will go through a pre-test, a profile with personalized feedback, course materials, a satisfaction survey, and a post-test. All of your answers on the profile and survey questions will be keep confidential. There is a bar at the top of the page that will show you what sections are remaining.
In order to get through the course, you must view all the articles, activities and tools in the Course Content area. Course materials you have viewed will be marked by an orange box with a check-mark in it. In order to get credit for having read every article and strategy, you must click “Continue” at the bottom of the article to return to the course page. After you have viewed all the material, you will be taken to the post-test page, which is similar to the pre-test you took earlier.
After you go through the post-test section, you will be taken to a certificate page. If you want to, print this page for your records. After that, you can either logout or explore the entire myStudentBody site.
If you wish to logout of MyStudentBody.com and return to the course at a later time, you may. Please make sure you click the “Logout” button on the upper right hand corner of the screen before leaving the program. If you close your browser to exit, you will lose the information you put in. To log back in, make sure you use the same username and password as you did originally or you will have to start over.
