Acquaintance Rape: Does NO Really Mean NO?

What does consent mean? How do I ask for sexual consent? Does alcohol really enhance my sexual desire? How do I know if he/she wants sex? Come find out the answers to these tough questions in an in-depth discussion with scenarios and role-plays.

Alcohol 101

Welcome to a virtual party where you are meeting new friends and making tough decisions about alcohol, yourself, and your friends. This interactive CD-ROM program is a fun and educational adventure into the world of college life and the responsibilities of alcohol use. You’ll learn a ton about how to take care of yourself and your friends.


Alcohol  & Violence: 100% Alcohol 0% Irresponsibility

This program discusses issues related to alcohol and violence. The topics discusses include, but are not limited to: how alcohol impacts society, facts about alcohol and violence, and the most prevalent types of violence affecting campuses. We’ll discuss and share tips on how to throw a safe party and ways to successfully turn down a drink.

  • Studies indicate that 50-80% of campus violence is related to alcohol
  • 40% of violent crimes involve alcohol
  • A Study done of Residence Halls, found that 71% of violent acts aimed at resident assistants was alcohol related.

Taming the Inner Beast: Managing Anger Effectively

Join us for an important discussion about the ABC’s of anger. Anger is something everyone experiences. It’s not something you outgrow. It’s a powerful feeling, but a feeling you can learn to manage with practice. Let’s learn how to remain COOL when you’re HOT under the collar.

Hate Crimes: Hate Wears Many Faces

What is the difference between a hate crime and a hate incident? Who commits hate crimes and why do they do it? What are the effects of hate crimes on the victims? Join us and learn the answers to these questions and learn ways to fight hate.

Healthy Relationships: Equality vs. Power

When Flirting Isn't Flirting: Sexual Harassment on Campus

This program will help students understand the different types of Sexual Harassment. We’ll also discuss how to recognize if your behavior is harassing or if you’re being harassed. The policies and procedures regarding sexual harassment at Texas State will also be addressed.

  • Over 40% of women polled say they've been sexually harassed at work
  • 1991 the National Association for Female Executives polled its 1300 members and found that 53% of them were sexually harassed by people who had power over their jobs or careers
  • The Pentagon reported that of 20,000 military respondents worldwide, 64% of women and 17% of men said they had been sexually harassed

How to Catch That Social Buzz Without Puking

This program looks at how to drink responsibly and avoid negative situations (i.e. puking, hangovers, fights, etc). We’ll give you tips, pointers, and share stories. This program is for everyone, drinkers and non-drinkers. No preaching allowed.
